Main motivation
The culture of NMU is inclusive, supportive and community. I especially appreciate NMU focus on creating a collabritive culture. The NMU collaborative environment; is fast-paced, innovative culture; the emphasis on work-life balance; the culture of transparency. I enjoy direct problem-solving as a team when complex issues arise. To create solutions that are proactive vs being in a state of reactive. I enjoy that my role and the NMU community constantly pushes me to learn new technologies/skills. I love the creative freedom I have to look at new ideas to create employee engagements, retention and culture. As a team we work together to explore these ideas, implement programs that enhance our employees work experience. We're given the right tools and resources to do our jobs well. In Dining Services we have clear paths for career growth; the investment in professional development and training. To be straight forward I really appreciate our direct and indirect benefits as it creates peace of mind that my family and I are not stuggling to meet high deductables, budget for dental and visual appointments and needs or worry that we do not have paid time away when we need it most.

Greatest achievement
Since joining Northern Michig University, I have been promoted from Manager of Employment to Assistant Director of Employment. I was actually a student employee at Northern Michigan University and many years later returned to campus in a management role. I have received the Excellence In Service Award. Served on the Unions Negotiations team in my former role and in my current role served on the management/NMU negotiation team. In both situations I experience a colloboration for both sides to meet the needs of the NMU Employees.
