    Jason N. Ast Prov/Dir Institutional Effctvns/Strategic Plng

In the Institutional Effectiveness office, our work is all about supporting the mission and student success.  We provide key data and insights to decision-makers; we support and facilitate the University's strategic planning process; we ensure NMU is in good standing with our accreditor, the Higher Learning Commission; and we help with things like learning outcomes assessment designed to make sure students are learning what they are supposed to.  Our work is seen throughout campus and shows up in other people's work all the time.  The strategic plan, Our Compass, pulls together many efforts to help amplify impact and make sure that efforts are coordinated and we are the backbone in that coordination.

Certainly other departments on campus would answer this question in a very different way, but your question went to me, and that's all we do is support the mission!  I hope this was helpful.  NMU is a great place to work, and if you are looking for a job where you can see your impact, NMU is likely your place.
