Northern Michigan University has a large and diverse dining and food service operation with over nine dining locations on campus. Facilities oversees operations, maintenance, repair, and services for existing grounds, facilities, and infrastructure.

Northern Michigan University Police Department supervisory positions work to ensure that the NMU campus is a safe and orderly place to live, learn, work and visit. Northern Michigan University's Public Safety Institute offers resources in the community in law enforcement training, a police academy, MCOLES testing, and local corrections testing.
