Renee S. Associate Director Employee Experience

When I started at NMU, I knew about the university and understood the benefits package and the mission and values on paper, but I didn't fully appreciate the culture of support and the emphasis on employee well-being until I became part of the community. I joined expecting a job, but I found a constantly evolving experience filled with new challenges, opportunities to learn, and chances to influence meaningful change. NMU deeply invests in its people – its students, faculty and staff, and the community.

What has made me choose to stay is the people and the purpose, while also being able to stay committed to my family and personal activities. I greatly appreciate the generous time-off benefits, personal and professional support, and genuine concern for employee well-being. I've also had the opportunity to work with dedicated colleagues, contribute to meaningful initiatives, and continue growing professionally. Even during challenging periods, knowing that the work makes a difference and being part of a community that is committed to moving forward together has made this an organization worth investing in.
