Position Title: Director-Hockey Operations

Department:  Intercollegiate Athletics

Term of Assignment: Continuing

Term End Date, If Applicable:             

FLSA Status:   Non-Exempt = overtime eligible

Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with evening and weekend work required.

Salary: Targeted Salary Range: $39,200-$42,200

Travel: 10-25%

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: Coordinate the off-ice operational aspects of the hockey program under the general supervision of the head coach. Maintain and operate video editing equipment and software. Purchase, maintain and modify hockey equipment. Coordinate and purchase supplies for locker room. Hire, train and manage student staff. Plan, coordinate and execute team travel. Assist with hockey operating and travel budgets. Coordinate team practice facility schedule. Plan, coordinate and execute team meals. Facilitate visiting team requests and assist teams as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Required Specialized Training/Certifications: 

Required Minimum Work Experience:  Experience playing and/or coaching NCAA Division I intercollegiate hockey and/or USA Hockey Level 4 (or higher) coaching certification or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: 

Working knowledge of the XOS video system.
Working knowledge of Division I college hockey program operations.
Excellent organization and communication skills.
Ability to work well with coaches, student-athletes, staff and students.
Time management skills.
Active listening skills, e.g., giving full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
Ability to actively look for ways to help people.
Ability to negotiate with vendors to get the best price possible while keeping the University's best interests in mind.
Computer literacy in various computer software applications.
Ability to work irregular hours (nights, weekends, holidays and short notice situations).
Ability to work under stressful situations where timing is critical.
Ability to transport, setup and use video equipment and edit video.
Ability to supervise student staff.
Ability to travel.
Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not necessarily result in solving the problem, but in recognizing that there is a problem.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

Additional Desirable Qualifications: 

Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Experience in ice hockey instruction and officiating and working knowledge of all aspects of hockey.
