Position Title: Head Men's Basketball Coach

Department:  Intercollegiate Athletics

Term of Assignment: Term

Term End Date, If Applicable: June 30, 2027            

FLSA Status:   Exempt = not eligible for overtime

Work Schedule: Variable shift/variable days depending upon playing schedule, recruiting demands and department events. 
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until position is filled.

Salary: $98,000-$115,000

Travel: 10-25%

Brief Statement of Duties: Direct, organize, coach and administer the men's basketball program.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Discipline/Degree Area: 

Required Specialized Training/Certifications:  NCAA learning portal proficiency, or passing within one month of hire.
Possess a current CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire.

Required Minimum Work Experience: 
Demonstrated successful basketball coaching experience as a head coach at the NCAA Division I, II or III level, or at the NAIA, junior college or high school level or as an assistant coach at the professional level or NCAA Division I or II level.
No prior involvement with NCAA major rules violations.
On- and off-campus recruitment of student athletes.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: 
Knowledge of NCAA, conference and NMU compliance rules.
Strong leadership abilities to mentor and develop student athletes.
Ability to use various computer software applications including video editing systems.
Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Time management skills.
Ability to assess situations, identify problems, and implement solutions.
Ability to work effectively under stressful and high-pressure situations.
Ability to establish a good rapport and effective working relationship with student athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, administrators, college faculty and staff, alumni, professional colleagues, and the general public.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

Additional Desirable Qualifications: 
Collegiate basketball playing experience.
Master's Degree.
