Position Title: Principal Administrative Assistant

Department:  Financial Aid

Term of Assignment: Continuing

Term End Date, If Applicable:             

FLSA Status:   Non-Exempt = overtime eligible

Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Salary: Hourly rate: $15.85

Travel: No travel

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: Provide administrative and budget support to the Director of Financial Aid. Assist Director in administering all aspects of the Satisfactory Academic Progress policy and appeal process. Maintain office supply inventory. Manage university-issued credit card for office expenditures, pay invoices and settle expenses using university procedures. Provide exceptional and confidential customer service to students and parents regarding financial aid. Assist A/P staff members with their respective programs, for example, Michigan Tuition Incentive Program processing,

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: High School Graduation or Equivalent

Discipline/Degree Area: 

Required Specialized Training/Certifications: 

Required Minimum Work Experience:  Three years of progressive office work experience or an Associate's Degree or two years course work leading to Bachelor's Degree.
Customer service experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:

Ability to accurately and efficiently operate department equipment to include any combination of word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail or web-based applications.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures such as managing files and records.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

Additional Desirable Qualifications: 

Previous experience working with financial aid applications, documentation and familiarity with financial aid regulations.
Experience with electronic transfer/retrieval of information.
Broad knowledge of the University, including procedures, policies and operational systems.
Knowledge of Financial Aid policies and procedures, especially as they relate to Satisfactory Academic Progress.
