Position Title: Asst Ice Hockey Coach

Department:  Intercollegiate Athletics

Term of Assignment: Term

Term End Date, If Applicable: June 30, 2027            

FLSA Status:   Exempt = not eligible for overtime

Work Schedule: Variable shift/variable days depending upon playing schedule, recruiting demands and department events.

Salary: Targeted Salary Range: $95,000-$100,000

Travel: 10-25%

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: Assist the Head Hockey Coach with all assigned duties associated with the Intercollegiate Hockey Program.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: Course work leading to a degree Certificate

Discipline/Degree Area: 

Required Specialized Training/Certifications:  Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
NCAA learning portal proficiency, or passing within one month of hire.
Possess a current CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire.

Required Minimum Work Experience:  Demonstrated successful hockey playing experience at the collegiate or comparative level or coaching experience at the collegiate, comparative or high school level.
No prior involvement with NCAA major rules violations.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: 

Knowledge of NCAA, conference and NMU compliance rules.
Strong leadership abilities to mentor and develop student athletes.
Ability to use various computer software applications including video editing systems.
Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Time management skills.
Ability to assess situations, identify problems, and implement solutions.
Ability to work effectively under stressful and high-pressure situations.
Ability to establish a good rapport and effective working relationship with student athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, administrators, college faculty and staff, alumni, professional colleagues, and the general public.

Additional Desirable Qualifications: 

Collegiate hockey playing experience.
On- and off-campus recruitment of student athletes.
