Position Title: Facilities Maintenance Attendant

Department:  Plant Operations

Term of Assignment: Continuing

Term End Date, If Applicable:             

FLSA Status:   Non-Exempt = overtime eligible

Work Schedule: Variable shifts/days; traditionally Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

Salary: Hourly rate: $22.17 starting; $23.29 working

Travel: No travel

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: Under routine supervision, accomplish various tasks associated with the cleaning and maintenance of assigned University building(s) and adjacent grounds.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: High School Graduation or Equivalent

Required Minimum Work Experience:  Three years of combined total work experience with a minimum of one year in custodial building cleaning and one year in building maintenance work in hotels/motels, apartments or a relevant business or institutional settings.
Ability to pass relevant oral, written and/or performance testing.
Valid motor vehicle operator's license as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: 

KNOWLEDGE:
General and working knowledge of building maintenance.
SKILLS:
Equipment operation monitoring, troubleshooting, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair where applicable.
Working knowledge of computer applications (ie. word processing, spreadsheet, email, internet, web-based programs).
Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively deal with a broad variety of people and prepare quality correspondence.
Excellent critical thinking skills, good judgment; able to effectively analyze situations and solve problems.
Effective interpersonal skills; able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Strong organizational skills; able to plan work and handle multiple tasks and priorities.
Excellent customer service skills.
ABILITIES:
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, crawl, climb, reach, bend, squat, and lift up to 60 pounds. Employee must possess grip strength and dexterity to work with tools, small hardware, and make adjustments to small components and gauges; and have the visual aptitude to read small/fine print, recognize colors and color variations, and detect depth perception. Duties also require frequent ability to balance on ladders; ability to traverse tunnels, tight spaces and confined spaces; and ability to wear a dust mask or respirator. Ability to perform the above duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

Specific experience in one or more relevant technical trades.
Completion of relevant training, certifications or coursework in building maintenance, construction or trades.
Demonstrated effective supervisory experience.
