Position Title: Principal Account Clerk

Department:  Biology

Term of Assignment: Continuing

Term End Date, If Applicable:             

FLSA Status:   Non-Exempt = overtime eligible

Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm

Salary: Hourly rate: $15.85

Travel: No travel

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: Assist with management of departmental budgets, including departmental expenditures, and other financial activities. Generate budget reports, conduct budget transfers, and work with the Department Head to manage departmental financial activities. Provide assistance and training to faculty with respect to budget management including grants, contracts and travel. Provide primary support to the Biology Department with additional support for the College of Arts and Sciences.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: High School Graduation or Equivalent

Required Minimum Work Experience:  Three years of office work experience with primary duties in accounting or bookkeeping OR an Associate's Degree or two years coursework leading to a Bachelor's Degree.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: 

Ability to use software systems including Excel and Google Suite and financial software.
Ability to efficiently perform computer tasks.
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Knowledge of principles and practices associated with client services.
Time management skills.
Critical thinking skills including logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions and approaches.
Excellent oral and written communication and comprehension skills.
Ability to multi-task.
Ability to process complex budget/financial actions, including monitoring for suggested improvements to management.
Ability to prepare effective and accurate budget and financial reports.


Additional Desirable Qualifications

Additional Desirable Qualifications: 

Knowledge of and experience working with Concur, Cognos, Banner.
Experience with grants and contracts.
Experience working with faculty and students.
At least two courses in bookkeeping, accounting and/or financial management.
