Position Title: Senior Library Assistant
Department: Library Instrctnl Sup/Library
Term of Assignment: Continuing

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt = overtime eligible
Work Schedule: During academic semesters: typically Sunday, 8:30 am - 5 pm; Monday - Thursday - 2:30 pm - 11 pm
During academic breaks & summer: typically 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
Salary: Hourly rate: $15.70
Travel: No travel
Brief Statement of Duties: Assist with library operational functions: create, compile, and maintain records; receive, process, and issue library materials (including interlibrary loan and reserve reading) in a variety of formats; perform collection maintenance and inventory; conduct facilities opening and closing procedures; assist patrons with library transactions; and perform complex clerical functions, including petty cash maintenance.
Required Education: Associate's Degree
Discipline/Degree Area:
Required Specialized Training/Certifications: Associate's Degree or two years coursework leading to a Bachelor's Degree.
Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within the first two weeks of employment.
Required Minimum Work Experience: One year of customer service oriented work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:
Demonstrated ability to accurately and efficiently perform detail-oriented tasks.
Experience and knowledge of technology including email, internet, databases, spreadsheets, and web-based applications.
Ability to accurately and efficiently operate departmental equipment.
Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, supervisors, and customers (students, faculty, staff, community patrons).
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree.
Supervisory experience including creation of training documentation/activities, training, overseeing performance, providing feedback, offering support, evaluating, scheduling, assigning tasks, etc.
Library work experience.
Time management skills.
Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
Demonstrated experience working with a diverse group of individuals.
Experience and knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro and library-specific systems.
