Position Title: Staff Nurse-LPN or Staff Nurse

Department:  Health Center

Term of Assignment: Continuing

Term End Date, If Applicable:             

FLSA Status:   Exempt = not eligible for overtime

Work Schedule: Typically Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required.

One position is available with the potential to be filled at any of listed levels consistent with the selected applicant's experience. Levels include: Staff Nurse-LPN or Staff Nurse.

Salary: Targeted Salary Range: Staff Nurse-LPN: $41,600-$46,800; Staff Nurse: $49,000-$55,000

Travel: No travel

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: Staff Nurse-LPN:
Assess patient health problems and needs, implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent or disabled patients. May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention.

Staff Nurse:
Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent or disabled patients. May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: Course work leading to a degree Certificate

Discipline/Degree Area:  Nursing

Required Specialized Training/Certifications:  Staff Nurse-LPN:
Course work leading to a degree Certificate
Successful completion of a practical nursing education program.
Passage of NCLEX-PN.
Active licensure as a Practical Nurse in Michigan.

Staff Nurse:
Associates or BSN degree.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Michigan.

Required Minimum Work Experience:  Staff Nurse-LPN or Staff Nurse:
Previous work-related skill, knowledge or experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: 

Staff Nurse-LPN:
Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases and deformities.


Staff Nurse:
Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases and deformities to include symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions and preventive health-care measures.


Staff Nurse-LPN or Staff Nurse:
Customer and personal service-knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Oral and written communication-talking, listening and writing to and with others to convey information effectively.
Service orientation-actively look for ways to help people.
Interpersonal relationship skills.
Attention to detail.
Ability to document information concisely, completely and clearly.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

Additional Desirable Qualifications: 

Staff Nurse-LPN or Staff Nurse:
Experience providing care in a university health center.
Experience providing care in a primary care office.
Electronic medical records experience.
Experience administering allergy shots.
