Position Title: Manager-Grant Accounting/Accounting Services

Department:  Controllers Office

Term of Assignment: Continuing

Term End Date, If Applicable:             

FLSA Status:   Exempt = not eligible for overtime

Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required.

Salary: Targeted salary range: $68,000-$74,000

Travel: Less than 10%

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: Plan, develop and refine operating procedures and computerized systems for financial reporting. Monitor, review and document University financial transactions for compliance with accounting principles, University policies, federal circulars and Internal Revenue Service rules and regulations. Prepare and/or assist with preparation of many of the University's financial statements, annual audits, income tax return, revenue projections of University endowments and expenditure projections for special projects. Responsible for all post award financial management functions, including expenditure monitoring, financial reporting, grant close-out, and audit.

Required Minimum Work Experience:  Four years of experience in accounting, auditing, or finance.

Current knowledge of accounting practices and principles.
Oral and written communication and comprehension skills.
Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work.
Ability to work effectively within a team-based environment.
Computer and software application skills.
Current knowledge of tax laws.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

Additional Desirable Qualifications: 

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Master's Degree in Business and/or CPA certificate.
Higher education fund accounting seminars and workshops.
Experience in financial accounting for federal, state, and local grants.
Certified Fiscal Research Administrator or comparable certification.

The Tenure Track Assistant Professor position requires a Ph.D. in forensic biology or a related field. Ph.D must be earned by August 15, 2027. Assignments may also include teaching in related fields including human anatomy & physiology. Preference will be given to those applicants whose work engages decomposition ecology or related specialties in entomology, microbiology, morphological decomposition, and postmortem interval estimation. This is a posting for part-time temporary positions which are used to supplement and augment the regular NMU workforce. This position is primarily responsible for food preparation and cooking. The length of hire might vary from 1 day to 4 months.

Responsible for providing administrative and faculty support and guidance to ensure the effective functioning of the Counseling and Consultation Services department to include office administration, fiscal responsibility, inventory control, record maintenance, website maintenance, event organization and supervision of student staff. Brief Statement of Duties: The course load will be 12 credits per semester, with multiple preps each term. The teaching responsibilities will include various applied ethics courses (computer, legal, medical) as well as a course in social and political philosophy. There will also be additional service responsibilities in support of the department, college, and university. The appointment will require having an active research agenda.
