Position Title: Digital Communications Strategist

Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required.
Salary: Targeted Salary Range: $47,680-$51,250
Travel: Less than 10%
Brief Statement of Duties: Support expanding and improving alumni engagement and fundraising strategic initiatives via digital media. Serve a critical role of the NMU Alumni and Foundation Office by developing and executing digital communication strategies that strengthen alumni engagement, donor relations, and philanthropic initiatives. Develop, execute, and measure an alumni-centric digital communications plan, inclusive of social media, email, web, giving platforms, video assets, as well as new content and channels that will be developed over time. Contribute creative, editorial, and production ideas to the development of the alumni digital communications strategy, and be responsible for many aspects of its day-to-day execution. This role ensures NMU’s alumni, donors, and friends are meaningfully connected to the university through compelling, consistent, and targeted digital content.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Discipline/Degree Area: Digital Media, Retail Media, Digital Merchandising, Online Brand Ambassador, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field.
Required Specialized Training/Certifications:
Required Minimum Work Experience: Two years of professional experience in digital communications, marketing, public relations, digital merchandising (retail), or another related field. Demonstrated success in managing social media platforms, email and web-based campaigns or marketing strategies, and digital content creation.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:
Highly developed skills in communications, to include: oral, written, presentation, interpersonal and editing.
Journalistic, storytelling, and marketing intuition; ability to identify and react to trending topics.
Self-starter who can recognize or create opportunities and move quickly to capitalize on them.
Ability to work collaboratively across the organization to bring ideas to life, execute projects optimally, achieve common goals, and productively manage expectations of colleagues.
Proven experience in developing digital and print content with a focus on advancing organizational goals and objectives.
Strong attention to detail with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
Ability to independently initiate and manage complex programs and multiple priorities.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse constituency (alumni, donors, faculty, staff, students, vendors).
Ability to work evenings and weekends for events as required.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
Experience in higher education, nonprofit advancement, alumni relations, or digital merchandizing/retail.
